Recognised Institutions for Providing Continuous Professional Training

The Academic and Accreditation Advisory Committee (AAAC) of the Securities and Futures Commission has approved the following as recognised institutions for providing Continuous Professional Training (CPT):

1. Hong Kong Institute of Bankers
2. Financial Services Development Centre of Vocational Training Council
3. Hong Kong Stockbrokers Association Limited
4. The Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts Limited

The approval is given on the basis that the AAAC is satisfied with the quality standard of the continuous education programs of the above institutions. However only training programs relevant to the activities for which a licensee is licensed would serve the CPT purpose. For example, general management training will but language courses will not be accepted for CPT purpose.

Licensees are advised to select topics which are related to their licensed activities and will enhance their financial industry knowledge to satisfy the CPT requirement.

Currently, the following institutions, which provide recognised industry-based qualification for competence purpose, may also provide CPT courses:

  • Hong Kong Securities Institute (Hong Kong);
  • The National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc (US);
  • The Securities Institute of Australia (Australia);
  • The Securities and Futures Authority (UK);
  • Canadian Securities Institute (Canada); and
  • Japanese Securities Dealers Association (Japan).
