SFC Signs Lease for New Office Premises

The SFC is pleased to announce that it has entered into a lease for four floors of Chater House, Central, as its new offices.
The SFC was earlier served notice by its landlord, Hongkong Land, to surrender the present offices at The Landmark by the end of June 2003. The SFC then began a search for new premises.
In assessing the options, the SFC has considered factors including:
- attractive rental package;
- efficient office building with good location, security and service management;
- comparable floor area requirement; and
- availability by 30 June 2003
A lease was signed today with Hongkong Land for the 6th to 9th floors of Chater House, Central. The lease is for 10 years starting 1 July 2003.
As a result of the move, the SFC will achieve significant rental savings.
An SFC spokesman said: "The new offices can be conveniently accessed by market practitioners, and will enable us to continue to effectively discharge our responsibilities. When we plan the office layout, we will do our best to economise the use of space. We will adopt modest fitting out standards and otherwise make every effort to minimise the removal cost."
The SFC has been headquartered at The Landmark since 1992. It currently occupies six floors (9th to 13th, 15th) of Edinburgh Tower.
