SFC Becomes ACCA Approved CPD Employer and Accredited Employer
26 Nov 2004
The SFC is pleased to be the first employer in Hong Kong and the first financial regulator in Asia to be awarded the status of Approved Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Employer by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). The SFC is also the first financial regulator in Asia accepted as an ACCA Accredited Employer (Note 1).
The SFC treasures its human capital and is committed to be an attractive place to retain and attract the right blend of regulatory and market expertise. One of the strategies to achieve this is to provide a comprehensive training and development programme. The awards are recognition of the quality of SFC’s training and development support for our employees. For SFC employees who are ACCA members, they will automatically meet the accounting body’s CPD requirements.
The SFC received the awards from ACCA on 23 November 2004. Mr Peter Au-Yang, SFC’s Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, said: "We are very pleased to be the first financial regulator in Asia to become an Approved CPD Employer. It is a great endorsement of our development and training effort, which is a particular priority to us. Above all, we are very delighted to be able to provide solid support to our employees in updating and maintaining their professionals skills and competencies."
Mr Allen Blewitt, ACCA’s Chief Executive, said: "SFC’s achievement demonstrates the rigour of the learning and development programmes it has put in place for ACCA members, and demonstrates that SFC’s accountants and finance professionals are maintaining the skills and knowledge at high levels."
