SFC Appoints Academic and Accreditation Advisory Committee (AAAC) Members

The SFC is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Raymond So, and the re-appointment of Mr Stephen Hui, Ms Sandra Lee and Mr Vincent Lee to its AAAC for a term of two years.

Professor So is the Director of the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Master of Science (Finance) programme.

Mr Stephen Hui, Ms Sandra Lee and Mr Vincent Lee are industry practitioners and have been members of the AAAC since 2002.

"I welcome Professor So and the re-appointment of Mr Hui, Ms Lee and Mr Lee. They will bring their professional expertise and valuable experience to the AAAC," said Alexa Lam, Chairman of the AAAC and SFC’s Executive Director of Intermediaries and Investment Products.

Mrs Lam also paid tribute to Professor Eric Chang, who has retired from the AAAC, for his valuable contribution.

The AAAC was established under section 8 of the Securities and Futures Ordinance to advise the SFC on any policy matters regarding competence and continuous professional training requirements for the industry. It plays a crucial role in raising and promoting industry professionalism among market intermediaries, thereby enhancing investor confidence in our market intermediaries.

During the past year, the AAAC approved the SFC’s revised Fit and Proper Guidelines, Guidelines on Competence and Guidelines on Continuous Professional Training for the new licensing regime. It also endorsed new competence alternatives to facilitate the re-entry of former practitioners into the industry, and the mutual recognition of qualifications between Hong Kong and the Mainland under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) which will facilitate the flow of securities and futures professionals between the two markets.

The AAAC will continue with its efforts to raise the standards and professionalism among market intermediaries and assist them in gaining relevant skills and product knowledge to diversify their businesses and remain competitive.
